OUR CHURCH HISTORY

Pastor Chester Au served four years as Associate Pastor at Church of the Open Door International (COTODI) from 1995-1999. With endless prayers and counsel from church leaders, in August 1999, the Word of the Lord came to Pastor Chester:

Ecclesiastes 3:2 “A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted.”

These words and the Spirit of God led Pastor Chester and fellow members of his previous church to a three-day prayer and fasting at the Prayer Mountain in Santa Cruz, CA. It was there that the name and church “Harbor of Grace Church” (HOGC) was created.

In September 1999, HOGC had their first worship service in the garage of Pastor Chester’s house where four families came to worship, followed by more members in the coming months. HOGC outgrew the garage and moved subsequently to two church buildings in South San Francisco, American Legion Hall, and our current facility in Millbrae, CA.

The Lord has been faithful throughout the years as He allowed HOGC to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 20 years. We trust He will continue to build His church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.  No matter what your history is with your faith, you are welcome at Harbor of Grace Church.

Our theological foundation is one of the most important parts of who we are as it anchors our faith and gives us roots for an ongoing life of growth.

An encouragement to all is found in;

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
